April 2024 Experiences Recap!

April was a busy month for us, as we had to put final touches on our wedding at The Springs in Costa Rica, as well as do a bachelor party, a bridal shower, and all that jazz!

Here’s a recap of everything we’d like to highlight from our busy month of April that we felt was worth sharing with the world!  Anything with hyperlinks has a full detailed review with more photos.  Enjoy and happy travels!

April Travel and Dining Experiences Recap

As I said, it was a busy month!  I had the pleasure of joining a group of friends who spent two days in the Florida Keys.  Our first stop was in Islamorada, where we felt compelled to get steaks at Ziggie & Mad Dogs, one of my absolute favorite Florida Keys experiences! Four of us spent the night at the Cheeca Lodge, which we really were only at to sleep for a few hours since we closed down the Whistle Stop, a local bar in Islamorada.

After that, we hit the road and headed to Key West where we met up with another four friends and unwound. One highlight was the Half Shell Raw Bar, where we spent hours drinking, hammering happy hour oyster and buffalo shrimp, and playing shuffleboard.

Key West was an absolute blast!  We went to about every bar on Duval Street and used a great VRBO on Front Street as our home base.  Our favorite places are Irish Kevin’s, Willie T’s, Hero’s Bar, and Bobby’s Monkey Bar.  On the way back, we casually cruised up the street out of the keys and had another lunch in Islamorada at Wahoos, where we had an excellent Wahoo BLT and a few more drinks.

Other venues we got to visit in April were Kelly’s Landing for New England Seafood, always a favorite for us, and a great lunch at Izgara in Plantation.  Nothing out of the ordinary there, but we always love our local haunts.  Of course, many happy hours were spent at our favorite watering hole, Smoke on the Water in Weston, the finest cigar bar and lounge in South Florida.

One annual event we finally got to experience was the Las Olas Food and Wine Festival.  I highly recommend checking out that annual event on Las Olas, which is a great area we hang out in quite frequently.

A new venue we got to try was  Pastis in Miami’s Wynwood area.  Whoa!  Looks like we have a new spot to throw into the rotation!

Michelle got together with her friends for a dinner at Casadonna in Miami, which has been something on our radar for a long time.  Although I didn’t get to go since it was her bridal shower, she wrote a glowing review you’ll have to check out and she insisted we are going together soon.

We also had JerryPalooza, which is a party at our local watering hole, Smoke on the Water Cigar Bar in Weston.  Crawfish, lobster tails, and steaks were the theme.  Jerry is a regular at the bar and a great friend to everyone, so this was a nice little event to mix into a Saturday.

And again, the highlight for us was our wedding in Costa Rica!

This was over a week of unwinding, making it official, and spending time with friends and family.  It was beyond our wildest dreams and we could not have asked for better weather in Costa Rica or a better group of people to celebrate with!

As mentioned we did this in The Springs Resort, which is very near and dear to us, and then headed out to Guanacaste to enjoy the W Conchal with a few others who wanted to extend their trip.

Be on the lookout for a full recap of our wedding including video on our YouTube channel as we get caught up on work and life!
