If you’ve ever been to Miami International airport and tried to get an Uber or Lyft driver, you know how chaotic that can be. I’ve ditched them all together for those times I need a ride home. Enter the Blacklane app. Today I’ll share my Blacklane reviews based on over a dozen rides and explain to you why not all car services are the same.
Airport Transfers Made Easy
If you want an outstanding chauffeur service, look no further than hiring a Blacklane driver. The chauffeur will wait for you inside the airport with a sign and be ready to assist you with any luggage you have as they escort you to your vehicle. These are folks who are paid to track your arrival time and will greet you with a cold bottle of water!

There’s three services tailored to the various needs of travelers. Here’s a rundown of how they work:
Intercity rides
These types of rides get you between cities within close proximity. For me, this is Miami to Fort Lauderdale for the most part. The intercity ride service helps make long-distance travel more comfortable.
You’ll save travel time by not having to deal with parking your vehicle, waiting for an Uber driver who can’t find you, and of course, those dreadful public transportation moments that can be downright chaotic. When you are chauffeured around, you can use your time to relax, work in a comfortable vehicle, make necessary phone calls or even just taking care of chores on your phone. It frees you up to do about anything.
Chauffeur hailing
In major cities you can hail a chauffeur with their chauffeur hailing service that works a lot like a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft). You can order a ride on the app and within minutes you can have your chauffeur arrive and off you go.
Airport transfers
The airport transfers are the most in demand service and the one I use the most. It’s self explanatory, and you can schedule your airport pickup up to a half hour prior to the time you need to be picked up. Your driver will arrive at your airport location and take you wherever you need to go. The scheduled airport pickup is tracked by your driver, so they will need your airline flight and of course, your airport pick up time and location.
This saves the nuisance of dialing up a rideshare app and trying to find a certain pick up point, get a time, and often times in Miami, suffer through a language barrier. I find the airport transportation service to be well worth the fee vs. the same pick up with a rideshare app.
You are also able to adjust your pick up time and details if things change or you are “stuck on the tarmac.” Those things happen.
More About Blacklane App and Service
According to Blacklane, their drivers are carefully selected and are trained in offering you advice on what to do locally, so if you are traveling somewhere new, you can tap into their wisdom. They do invite you to be conversational if you want any extra advice, and I’ve found them all very pleasant and knowledgable in my experiences.
The vehicles driven by Blacklane drivers are not company owned. In fact, they are fleets that are provided by local partners. You’ll find top quality chauffeured rides when you use this service, and all vehicles are late model and from the best brands. Brands like Mercedes, Cadillac, etc. You can also book a Sprinter van if you have a larger group as these accommodate up to 12 people.
While you won’t find out exactly which car you get, you won’t be let down as they only offer luxury vehicles.
What are the Benefits of Booking With Blacklane?
You’ll ride in style and class when you use this service. You’ll save money versus booking a transport from your hotel or resort. When you schedule a pickup time you can rest assured you don’t have to go through the hassle of renting a car in a foreign country if you are traveling abroad and worried about that.
Something I found interesting is that all of their rides are 100% carbon neutral, and that’s something that makes them different from any other transportation service or even limo companies.
You’ll find the vehicles very clean and always in tip top shape. There have very high standards for all of this and pride themselves in being first class in every way possible.
Rates charged for the chauffeur hailing service are based on distance and don’t have any additional fees tacked on. They say that in New York City you can get a vehicle for as cheap as $18.
For me, the biggest benefit is the quality of the vehicle and service. It’s worth every penny versus booking an Uber.
The airport transfers are all inclusive rates, so you will see all of the costs wrapped into one quote. This includes any tolls you’ll run into and tips, of course. There are no surprises, and you can rest assured that what you are quoted is exactly what you will pay.
There’s a one hour complimentary wait time if you use the airport transfer. This starts the minute yoru flight arrives at the airport. With your driver tracking the details of your arrival time and flight, they have calculated everything that could come into play once you arrive.
Every ride inside major cities have free Wi-Fi. If you want something with more space to work from, I suggest you book the SUV ride.
How to Book a Blacklane Driver
The first thing you’ll need to do is download the Blacklane app from your app store. Personally, I usually do these from their website from my computer as I book these in advance. Either option works.
You’ll then select either a one way trip or a by the hour trip. Insert your location details as well as the time you need the driver. From there, you’ll pick your vehicle class and you’ll be shown prices for each class.
Once you agree and start the booking details, you’ll be prompted to input your flight information if you are arriving at or going to an airport. They even ask you what you want written on a sign if you are being picked up, so you can use your name or even an alias. Nobody judges!
You can bring up to three people with two bags in the business class vehicles.
The van and SUV class will take five passengers and up to five bags.
The Sprinter van can accommodate up to 12 passengers.
Please note, cash is not accepted. It’s credit card or Paypal as it stands right now. You also have the option of having business invoices sent to you so you can keep track of fees.
