With a free shuttle service that runs every 30 minutes, you can easily catch your flight without stress. The hotel offers modern amenities, clean rooms, and a complimentary breakfast. It features spacious rooms, excellent customer service, and easy VTA light rail station access.
Tim and I have stayed at Fairfield by Marriott San Jose Airport Alajuela, and it’s a mixed bag but mostly positive. The location is unbeatable if you want to be near the airport, and the free shuttle is a lifesaver. The rooms are clean and comfy, and the breakfast is better than your average hotel fare. However, we did have a minor hiccup with housekeeping, which was a bit of a letdown. Overall, it’s a solid choice

Attractions Near Fairfield By Marriot
Whether visiting Alajuela or San Jose for an occasion or a meeting, schedule a few days to see some local attractions. Stay at Fairfield By Marriott and have access to the following attractions:.
National Theater of Costa Rica
The theatre in San Jose’s centre has a seating capacity of 1,140. It is 1.1 km from the Fairfield By Marriot. On the walls is the “Allegory of Coffee and Bananas,” a painting by Aleardo Villa, which he dedicated to the coffee farmers of Costa Rica.
Various groups hold performances, such as ballets, orchestras, and operas. The theatre is open to tourists during the day for a self-guided tour. There are usually free music programs during lunch hour and on Thursdays at 5.00 PM.
The statues of Ludwig van Beethoven and Calderón de la Barca are at the entrance of the National Theater. Other monuments are at the walk.
The Children’s Museum
Opening Hours: 8 AM to 4:30 p.m. (Tuesday through Friday) and 9 AM to 5 PM (Saturday and Sunday).
If you are staying at the hotel with your kids, I recommend the Children’s Museum in San Jose. The First interactive museum in Central America began operations in 1994 and is in the Old Penitentiary Building.
Gloria Bejarano de Calderon, the First Lady of Costa Rica, decided to open a museum dedicated to science and entertainment. The museum provides entertainment for both adults and children. The building hosting the museum has 40 interactive rooms. Each room has a different theme: archaeology, the universe, nature, and the human body.
The museum holds several events during the year and a summer camp. One of the most unique aspects of the museum is that visitors can have a real-life experience, such as simulating an earthquake.
Parque Diversiones
It is also known as The Dr. Roberto Ortiz Brenes Amusement Park in San Jose. The park began operations in 1981. Proceed from the park and go to help Costa Rican National Children’s Hospital.”
Parque Diversiones has the following attractions:
- Four roller coasters
- Three water coasters
- A train ride that goes around the park
- An arcade and adult bumper cars.
Pre-Columbian Gold Museum
The museum is at the Plaza de la Cultura and has the most extensive collection of gold artifacts in Latin America. The artifacts show the lives of the people who originally inhabited Costa Rica. Some of the artifacts are 1,500 years old.
When you visit the museum, I recommend one of my favorite artifacts: the Media Escudo, Costa Rica’s first gold coin. It marks when Costa Ricans started using coins instead of precious stones and gold.
The museum also holds other unique artefacts of tribal, historical, and social importance, such as animal figurines, handcrafted icons, and jewellery.
La Sabana Metropolitan Park
La Sabana Park is a must-visit and one of the largest (178 acres) and most important parks in San Jose. It is in Mate Redondo District and is 13 km from Fairfield By Marriot. The Costa Rican and Le Salle Natural Science Museums are inside the park. You will find spots to have a picnic with your family.
Another great spot to visit at the Park is the Pope’s visit to Costa Rica in 1983. Police patrol the park during the day, but I advise against going to the park at night. You must pay a small fee to use the spotless public restrooms.
Among the activities you can do at the park are bike riding, playing soccer, volleyball, basketball, and tennis at the various courts. There is an artificial lake at the park where you can feed geese.
