I grew up in the Minneapolis suburbs and let me tell you, there was nothing like a night out at Manny’s Steakhouse in Minneapolis. This place has a fanatical local following, and it tops all of the local magazine reader polls for chops and steaks.
Located in downtown Minneapolis, it is a premier dining destination renowned for its exceptional steaks, upscale ambiance, and impeccable service.
Situated within the W Minneapolis – The Foshay, Manny’s offers chops, USDA-certified steaks, and fresh seafood. Manny’s commands respect, I think, since they get the meat for their meals from their own cattle herds. This is only one reason this restaurant has a national reputation; it’s also been featured in Men’s Journal, the Knife & Fork Club, Zagat Guide, the New York Times, and it’s recommended by the Independent Cattleman’s Association.
Of all the great steakhouses I’ve been to, would Manny’s be the perennial winner, or would all of the popular acclaim be just for show?
Manny’s Steakhouse Reviews
I loved this restaurant from the first time I visited. I’ve been dozens of times and make it a point to visit this iconic Minneapolis establishment whenever I’m back in town. (Along with JD Hoyt’s Supper Club.)
Manny’s evokes a feeling of being in one of America’s most famous steakhouses in places like New York or Chicago. The people I was with all got different options off of the menu. I chose the New York Strip, which is one of my favorite cuts of red meat and one of my secret pleasures. It was well cut and paired perfectly with my wine. The price isn’t cheap, but when you take into account the great service with the amazing bar and fantastic food…well, I didn’t mind when I paid the bill.

Manny’s Steakhouse boasts a 4.1-star rating on Yelp from over 1,000 reviews. Most of the reviewers praised the food from the center cut beef to chicken. That’s a good vote of confidence for a steakhouse. Across the board, reviewers praised the service, and one person mentioned that their server, Paul, when out of his way at lunch to give him a cocktail on the house after there was a mixup with table reservations. Those who were not as happy with the service gave disappointing reviews on gristly steak and overcooked meat.
Manny’s Steakhouse has a 4.5/5 star rating on TripAdvisor, and most of the reviews are positive. The most critical reviews state that the restaurant was very loud, too bright, the food was served undercooked, and the staff was rude.

Of course, you can expect steak at Manny’s, and yes, they have amazing American-raised beef. Some of the most popular steak options include the Filet, New York Strip, and Bludgeon of Beef, which is a 50 ounce bone-in ribeye. They also have a range of other excellent options including seafood and chops. Appetizers, caviar, brunch, breakfast, and lunch are all available from Manny’s, so you can reserve a spot anytime of day.
Manny’s serves sides for the table instead of as single servings, and I can say that the loaded mashed potatoes were amazing.
Manny’s Steakhouse Dress Code
Manny’s maintains a business casual dress code. It is an upscale restaurant and guests were well-dressed. While jackets and ties are not mandatory, collared shirts, dress pants, and appropriate footwear are recommended.

Final Thoughts
Whether you are coming for dinner or stopping for a drink, the quality and special atmosphere at Manny’s shouldn’t be missed. From the moment you walk onto the wood floor to time you leave your leather seat, my prediction is that you will greatly enjoy Manny’s. I can’t say it’s the best steak I ever had, but my experience was very good, and I would go again if I have the chance.
