Ousel & Spur Review

Ousel & Spur Pizza Co. in Big Sky, Montana, is a great pizza place that offers a warm and rustic atmosphere. I had heard a lot about Ousel & Spur, and I love to eat pizza, so when I was in Big Sky, I knew I had to try it. Would I choose a cheese or pepperoni pizza? Would I indulge in the specialty gourmet pizzas? What about the authentic Italian pasta dishes? Are you thinking about the creative appetizers and desserts? I wanted to check it all out, so I headed to Big Sky Town Center with a friend and started eyeing the diverse menu.

Ousel & Spur pizza

I ended up with the Montanan pizza, which comes topped with elk sausage, mushrooms, potato chips, sage, and rosemary. It was phenomenal and one of the many Montana favorites around Big Sky. My friend got a vegetarian option, the Wild Mushroom pizza, and she said it best: “This is just great pizza.”

Ousel & Spur Pizza Co. Reviews

Ousel & Spur has 4.2/5 stars on TripAdvisor. It’s currently the #6 restaurant in Big Sky, MT, and there are almost 300 reviews. Many reviewers praise the local bread and olive oil, the thin crust pizza, and they love that many ingredients are sourced from local farms. Others really loved the mac & cheese, mention the options for children, and the wide selection of delicious dinner options. A few reviewers on TripAdvisor mentioned rude staff and didn’t like the pizza.

Yelp has a bit lower rating than TripAdvisor with a 3.4/5. People really loved the Elk Sausage pizza and the Wild Mushroom pizza. Most of the poor reviews, again, were about the rude staff. Others complained that the restaurant wouldn’t honor their reservation or seat their party, and that they ended up waiting longer for pick up orders than they were told. There were a few reviews about the pizza not being fully cooked, too.

Ousel & Spur Pizza Co. Menu

As expected, the menu at Ousel & Spur is amazing pizza. The family establishment also offers pasta, salads, and desserts. There is a kids menu, too, called “Bambinos,” and the menu includes cheese and classic pepperoni pizza, mac & cheese, and spaghetti with butter or meatballs. Of course, the pizza is the star, but what makes the pizza unique? It’s really the toppings that tempt you. These include elk sausage, wild mushrooms, prosciutto, pork belly, and more. The restaurant also has gluten free options and an amazing wine list, so you can enjoy life, drink wine, and enjoy your company while waiting for your pizza to bake.

These types of ingredients, like Elk, are consistent at other Big Sky Pizzerias, including the nearby Pinky G’s Pizza, which is also located in Town Center.
