The Wharf Restaurant Review

If you are into fine dining and happen to be headed to the Cayman Islands, the Wharf restaurant is one of the most memorable restaurants we can recommend.

Michelle and I first came here in 2023 and it was shortly after this experience where I made my world famous proposal. Okay, maybe not for you guys, but for us, the story of taking a boat to Rum Point, only to see it being closed for renovations, was iconic. (I maneuvered brilliantly and did it at Kaibo Beach Bar.)

The Wharf is perfect for a romantic dinner and has won the Wine spectator award every year since 2004 and has one of the largest wine cellars in Grand Cayman, which I gladly got into. They have nearly 1,000 wines by the bottle, something that I’ve only seen here in Grand Cayman at Luca in the Caribbean Club.

They offer continental cuisine and beautiful scenery for over 30 years headed up by Chef Christian Reiter, the head chef. They offer everything from Australian Certified black angus, to fresh lobster, to a very unique Cayman Turtle steak.

The Wharf restaurant and bar review comes after we visited again during our four day trip back to relive memorable restaurants we visited last year. It says a lot that we made it a “must visit” on our short trip because typically we like to sample every top restaurant and experience their food, but we enjoyed the menu so much we wanted more.

Chef Christian Reiter’s culinary delights are a highlight of the Wharf, making each visit a unique experience.

The drinks menu at the Wharf is expansive, so if wine isn’t your thing, you have plenty of options.

With a 6:30 reservation, we opted for the outdoor seating to catch this amazing sunset so we could catch the stunning views that you usually see on Instagram.

What a view!

We had drank on seven mile beach all day, and originally planned on arriving early to get drinks at their bar, but the sun wiped us out so we went immediately to the restaurant and opted to go straight to dinner.

From our waterfront table, we got these majestic panoramic ocean views while we celebrated my special day this time, (46th birthday) and the staff made this special event memorable.

With all the fine food they offer, it’s hard to make a decision. I set a goal to eat local seafood only all trip, but once I saw someone get the NY Strip Steak, I made a U-Turn and ordered it. It was decadent and perfectly cooked.

Other Menu Items

Offering local pumpkin soup, Cayman beef stew, jerk pork tenderloin, and an expansive seafood menu of everything you could imagine out of the sea, there is something for everyone at The Wharf.

The Wharf is also renowned for its signature dishes that highlight the best of local cuisine.

Events and Entertainment

At The Wharf Restaurant & Bar, you will find a range of events and entertainment options to suit every taste. From live music performances to themed nights, there something for everyone. The waterfront deck is the perfect setting for special events, with a dance floor and stunning ocean views. They also offer private dining options, including a private dining room with a capacity for up to 80 guests. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening out or a special event venue, they have everything you need to make your occasion truly unforgettable.

Private Dining

If you want to host a private event or business excursion, you can do this at the wharf restaurant. In our 2023 trip there was a group of locals having a corporate event which we could see from our table on the deck. Events are a big thing here, and why wouldn’t they be? You can get a beautiful view from any table, be it on the waterfront seating area, the bar, the deck, or even inside.

More Information and Photos of the Wharf Restaurant

The staff feeds the fish every night at 7 PM. They also allow guests to join in and we saw several children having a lot of fun feeding the fish. Truly a great place to dine and entertain!

The Wharf restaurant caters to tourists and locals alike. You’ll get a mix of both here, and I can promise you it’ll be very memorable. There are many nearby restaurants in the world famous Cayman Islands, such as Casanova and Tillies, and each are very unique. However, this is the only one to win the Wine Spectator Award and it has the best real estate perched above the Caribbean sea.

The Wharf offers a unique culinary experience that delights both tourists and locals, making it a must-visit destination.

Whether you are into fine dining, private dining, or want to visit on the weekends and hit the dance floor, this versatile Cayman Islands restaurant offers a little something for everyone. There is even a private cigar humidor called “Papi’s Cigar & Bourbon Collection,” featuring Cuban cigars and top shelf liquors.

We opted to sit here as our reservation was just before sundown, offering breathtaking views from the waterfront deck. I could see it being a bit hot during the day, but once the sun goes down, this is the place to be.

There dress code is cocktail casual.  Don’t come in swim suits or cover ups.  Men are fine in shorts and a business casual top or polo shirt.  Sundress and sandals are fine for the ladies, but do know that some people will no doubt dress fancier than others.
