Katana Cocina Nikkei Review

When I first read reviews about Katana Cocina Nikkei in Weston Florida, I kept seeing people say it offers a unique Japanese‑Peruvian fusion with excellent service—so I had to check it out for myself! Located conveniently on Weston Road, the vibe is modern and vibrant, perfect for date nights or casual group dinners.  Being Weston residents, we have so many sushi restaurants to choose from, but a new kid on the block is always a welcome addition.

We had reservations and arrived at the tail end of happy hour. There was live music and a few people finishing up a business meeting, but mostly it was full of people with friends and family. I liked the vibe of the restaurant, and the menus looked amazing based on the photos I had seen.

After dining there recently, here’s my full review. Would I have a great time and eat delicious food, or would I discover that this isn’t the Florida gem I thought it was?

Katana Cocina Nikkei — Menu – Japanese and Peruvian Fusion

The menu features innovative Nikkei cuisine, blending sashimi, ceviche, sushi rolls, and Peruvian-Japanese flavors. Highlights include creative sashimi dishes, flavorful ceviches, and sushi rolls with a Peruvian twist. They also offer cocktails and sake bombs to complement the menu. The focus on top-shelf ingredients and vibrant flavor combinations delivers a memorable dining experience.

I noted a large menu, with many tasty options. I knew I absolutely had to try one of the appetizers our server suggested, the Spicy Honey Shrimp Pops. We also ordered drinks, which were delicious, and for my meal, I went with the Sweet Duck. I was also impressed with the desserts. I chose the passion fruit cheesecake, which was one of the best cheesecakes I have had in my life.

Our table was one of the few that got a visit from one of the owners. He explained how the restaurant has a philosophy of making the world a better place by using fresh ingredients and eco-friendly practices. The staff, including the owner, was wonderful, and we thought the decor was really appropriate for the Japanese and Peruvian fusion the restaurant is known for.

We didn’t have a long wait, and we appreciated the recommendations we got from the staff. I look forward to coming back to try new things.
