  • Day pass confirmations are subject to availability, especially during busy seasons.
  • We limit reservations to a maximum of 15 guests traveling together.
  • We strongly recommend water shoes for your comfort and safety when navigating the hot springs area.

  • Children ages 0 to 5 can enter for free, while children aged 6 to 11 pay the child rate. Individuals aged 12 years or older are eligible for the adult rate.

Is the Tabacon Hot Springs Day Pass worth it?

Yes, the Tabacon Hot Springs day pass is worth it. Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa in Arenal, Costa Rica, offers a luxurious experience. However, it comes at a high price of $600.00 per night, making it more suitable for those seeking upscale accommodations, which was above our budget.

We booked our day pass online a week before, ensuring a smooth arrival process. The staff greeted us warmly and provided essential amenities like towel cards and lockers, for which we had to pay a $20.00 deposit.

The resort maintains clean facilities, including changing rooms, toilets, and showers near the hot springs. High demand made securing a cabana later in the day challenging, with most already booked.

We enjoyed exploring the various hot springs and pools throughout the day, although some were notably hot.

We had the fixed 3-course Costa Rican meal by 11 a.m. The food, however, was mediocre and did not match the premium price. So, I recommend you avoid purchasing day passes that include food.

Instead, opting for a regular day pass and ordering from the onsite bars offers a better dining experience and value. The drinks, however, were delicious but rather pricey.

Valuable Tips to Make the Most of Your Tabacon Hot Springs Day Pass

Make reservations in advance.

Especially during peak tourist seasons, making reservations for your day pass ahead of time is wise. This helps secure your spot and ensures a smoother check-in process upon arrival.

Arrive Early:

To avoid crowds and fully immerse yourself in the serene surroundings of Tabacon, consider arriving early in the morning. Our package started at 10 a.m., and we arrived at exactly 10 a.m., making our check-in process easier.

Pack Essentials:

Be sure to bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, and insect repellent. A swimsuit is necessary for enjoying the pool, while sunscreen protects your skin from the tropical sun. Insect repellent can help ward off pesky mosquitoes in the rainforest environment, so come prepared.

Take nature walks:

Don’t just stay by the pools; venture into the surrounding gardens and rainforest trails. Tabacon’s natural setting is incredibly beautiful, with lush vegetation, exotic flowers, and possibly wildlife sightings. A leisurely nature walk can add depth to your experience.

Capture Memories:

Bring a camera with a waterproof phone case to capture the beauty of Tabacon. From the picturesque pools to the vibrant flora, trust me, you’ll want to preserve the memories of visiting this tropical paradise.

Wrapping Up

To make the most of your visit, it’s smart to reserve in advance, arrive early, and don’t forget those essentials like swimwear, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

Overall, the Tabacon Hot Springs Day Pass sounds perfect for couples’ romantic days out or just a rejuvenating escape in Costa Rica’s natural paradise.
