It’s that time again! Here’s our June 2024 travel and dining recap! Once again it was a month full of new experiences and a lot of time on traveling the world.
Enough of the preamble, let’s get right into it! (In case you missed our May update, check that one out as we got married in Costa Rica and had a TON of new experiences to share with you all.)
June 2024 All World Travel Experiences Recap
June was a wild month. It opened up with our son Tim Jr. graduating high school. The celebration was at the Hollywood Hard Rock Hotel due to the size of his graduating class. (There were 1101 students in his class.)
It was a great day for us, and we look forward to him attending the University of Central Florida and exploring the Orlando area even more as we visit him and continue to support him on his journey. Congrats to all the 2024 grads, and best of luck in your next steps in life!
Then, we took a trip to Wroclaw, Poland, to see Michelle’s father and step-mother. Her father is battling cancer, so it wasn’t a trip that was about us, it was all about being with family and making sure we spent some quality time with him. Due to work and family obligations my trip was shorter than Michelle’s, but she stayed a week longer for obvious reasons.
We flew out of Fort Lauderdale and connected in Amsterdam. We originally thought we’d explore the city since we had a six hour layover, however the weather was really bad so we decided to check into the Yotel Air and sleep a few hours. That was an absolute game changer! $110 EUROS for four hours of peace and quiet felt like a steal.
It was my first time in Poland, and while it was a short trip for me, it was highly memorable. We got a full day to enjoy the city and spent enough time researching to find what we felt were the top steakhouses in Wroclaw, so click on that link to view them if you are thinking of visiting.
Spoiler: This is the one we REALLY enjoyed – it’s called Whiskey in the Jar. Super cool vibe, great music, and great steaks.
I was surprised at the “Americana” over there, but we didn’t let it get in the way of eating some traditional Polish cuisine. I had more sausage than I can ever remember, and I loved that most were made of veal, and not pork. Simply incredible!
We also got to spend some time at a killer cigar bar called Old Havana. It was nice to see Cuban cigars in Poland and disconnect for a bit.
The trip back was hectic, with the Fort Lauderdale Airport being shut down and a lot of long layovers, namely in Detroit. It was a painful day of travel back home, if I’m being honest.
We had a few days to enjoy our son’s company before moving him to UCF for Summer School.
Speaking of that, we’ll be creating a lot of Orlando content as we will be spending a lot of time up there in the next four years. We got to get a lay of the land and figure out the restaurant scene around UCF. There are many restaurants on an near the UCF campus, and we got to check out Azteca this trip and have a really nice dinner at the Ocean Prime Restaurant in Dr. Phillips.
On another note, the Dr. Phillips area is pretty cool. I can see ourselves getting into the restaurant scene there are they offer quite a bit!
It should be an exciting four years, and we already miss him dearly!
Florida Panthers Win the Stanley Cup!
Of course, this isn’t travel related, but we were THRILLED to watch the Panthers win the Stanley Cup in the presence of friends at our local cigar bar and lounge in Weston!
This was followed up by the Parade in Fort Lauderdale.
However, as we were celebrating the victory (for what ended up being an entire week), we got news that Michelle’s father had passed away. We left the party a little early and went indoors to avoid the rain, dry off, and have some tacos at El Camino on Las Olas as we took in the news.
So, here we are, re-organizing our entire month of July (we had planned to visit Minnesota and check out and review the Four Seasons in Minneapolis as well as visit a few of our favorite North Loop establishments,) and getting ready for a funeral.
Life throws curveballs at you sometimes. It’s how you react to them that define you. We’ll be continuing to do our best to travel the world and keep you all informed on what’s going on in the wild life of travel despite this news.
Until next month,
Tim & Michelle
